Travel Update: Brussels Pit Stop Before Italy
Back in Brussels for a quick pit stop and a hair appointment before I head to Italy. I'm particularly thrilled about Italy for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, I'll be reuniting with my brother, sister, and a few dear friends. There's always that lingering thought: will they notice any changes in me, or will I in them? But if I know us well, we'll most likely just pick up right where we left off, embracing the delightful chaos that always ensues.
My time in Albania was enriching, yet there's an undeniable comfort in being back in the Western world. This return to Brussels invoked a peculiar sense of familiarity. Surprisingly, the city felt more like home than I remembered. During my travels, I've occasionally experienced moments of disorientation, momentarily forgetting which city or country I'm in. Perhaps it's due to the constant moving or maybe the exhaustive 30-35 hours awake (save for those brief plane naps). Despite Albania sharing a timezone with Brussels, my internal clock felt more aligned here in Belgium.
On this Brussels stint, I've opted for a less tourist-centric location, immersing myself in the authentic local ambiance. My appreciation for this city has deepened. My day? Thoroughly enjoying the World Cup rugby match at a bar, the way the locals do, followed by a night hopping between various local watering holes. While I wouldn't label Brussels as a prime vacation destination, it's an excellent place if you're looking to decelerate and soak in the vibe. The city boasts scrumptious food, an enticing nightlife, safety, affordability, and incredibly hospitable residents. The diversity here is also noteworthy.
I just wanted to share this brief Brussels chapter before I delve into the Italian tales. Given the company awaiting me there, expect a healthy dose of mischief in my upcoming posts. Italy, with its breathtaking views and ambience, beckons.
Till next time,
