Tirana: A City Like No Other

Tirana: A City Like No Other

What's GOOD!!

Coming to you live from Tirana, Albania's vibrant capital, I've been swept up by its invigorating atmosphere. There's a sense of newfound liberty here that's so unlike other places I've been to, offering the carefree spirit.

Navigating the city as a black traveler has been an interesting experience. While some locals might still be grasping at the right words to address race, their genuine warmth and curiosity shine through. On a side note, having a decent physique seems to have its perks here in Tirana, a quirky observation I've made during my stay.

Now, a word to the wise: Tirana has a sweet tooth when it comes to drinks. It's a delightful throwback to those days of teen experimentation with cocktails. And while on the subject of beverages, the nightlife here throbs with energy. Songs with themes of revolution fill the air, and the entire city - bartenders included - revels in the joy of a good drink.

Speaking of revelations, being an American in Tirana feels almost mythical. With most English speakers hailing from the UK, there's an intrigue surrounding North Americans that's both puzzling and endearing. And amidst these interactions, don't be surprised to spot some eclectic fashion choices, like a dude confidently flaunting a Pop Smoke airbrushed t-shirt.

The diverse tapestry of faces here is intriguing. At any turn, you might meet someone who could easily hail from Spain, Greece, or the Middle East, and yet, they're proudly Albanian. It's a challenge and a joy to try and pin down what the quintessential "Albanian look" might be.

One slight hiccup, for my eco-friendly travelers: it appears some of the European recycling norms are yet to make their mark in Tirana. But, every place has its own pace and quirks, doesn't it?

More tales from this fascinating city to come. Dive deep, explore, and always stay curious.
