Ate, Drank, and Ubered My Way Through Rome's Hidden Gems

Ate, Drank, and Ubered My Way Through Rome's Hidden Gems

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Or at least, try to mimic a fraction of what they're up to. I certainly did a few things that maybe only a select few Romans might do.

Rome is basically a fountain wonderland. And I'm not talking about your typical 'toss a penny, make a wish' type. These are bona fide, running water fountains where people casually sip, rinse, and repeat.

The culinary adventure continues! I devoured my first cheese-less pizza. Yes, you heard it right – no cheese! I played pizza roulette and let the locals pick for me, asking for 'the spiciest pizza you dare to serve.' Spoiler alert: it was fire. I also had like a charcuterie type of pizza that used focaccia as the crust. That was special!

In my initial Italian escapades, I was part of a gelato-crazed crew, zealously chasing every scoop in sight. But when those feins left, I assumed the gelato quest had come to an end. How mistaken I was! The gelato adventure was far from over, I ended up with a new band of connoisseurs. And had to embark on a new relentless pursuit, tracking down and savoring every flavor. Each conquest seemed to be sweeter than the last, making the chase absolutely, deliciously worth it... and I was just happy to help this new crew have a taste of that creamy delight.

In a classic 'tourist move,' I hopped into the wrong Uber. First time for everything, right? Shoutout to Claudio, the world's most understanding driver.

Stumbled upon a quirky, standalone slot-only mini-casino. It was like a gambling nook – just slots, an ATM, and a bunch of degenerate gamblers. No frills, no fuss, just the sound of slots and broken dreams.

Rome has been an absolute blast. It's a city buzzing with life, overflowing with amazing things to do and places to eat. It's got a whole different vibe compared to other Italian cities, but it's a must-visit for sure.

And the coolest part? Bumping into ancient buildings is just an average day here. No need for a treasure map; I literally stumbled upon the Colosseum by accident. Who does that?

Til next time!
